Aug 26, 2026 Job Description 6-12 Visual Arts Teacher Notre Dame Academy, Hingham, Massachusetts--an all-female college preparatory middle and high school educating students in grades 6-12 is seeking a full-time Visual Arts Teacher with high energy, a creative spirit, and a passion for empowering young women. Notre Dame Academy is a vibrant, Catholic learning community, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. The Academy guides young women in their personal faith formation, challenges students to pursue academic excellence, and encourages social responsibility on behalf of global justice. NDA is seeking an experienced art teacher with a creative spirit and a passion for empowering young women to develop themselves artistically. Under the supervision of the Vice Principal, the Visual Arts Teacher creates, develops, and implements thoughtful and rigorous middle and high school arts curricula that builds students' creativity as well as their critical thinking, problem solving, and logical reasoning skills, and prepares them for an ever changing and diverse world. Students are educated and empowered in an academically challenging learning community that fosters a life-long love of learning, critical thinking, and open-mindedness. Components of Responsibility Pedagogy and Assessment- Teach grade 6-12 Visual Arts courses, including: ceramics, digital illustration, 2D and AP-2D Art
- Implement meaningful and effective instructional methods, for middle and high school
- Align course curriculum and assessments with established NDA curriculum maps
- Ensure frequent opportunities for formative and summative assessments.
- Provide extra help through meetings with students and through email communications.
- Integrate technology into pedagogy where necessary and beneficial. Classroom Management
- Create and maintain an organized, functional, and safe learning environment
- Uphold school-wide policies and procedures that optimize learning, equity, and inclusion
- Maintain accurate records Community Presence and Projects
- Manage Art Gallery, displaying and rotating student work frequently throughout the school year
- Develop and lead Annual Art Show featuring student work
- Oversee production of the yearbook, involving members of the yearbook club
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to enrich student experiences with creative activities
- Lead afterschool art-based activities including Art Club
- Support and participate in school events and initiatives, including student performances, athletic events, etc. Work with school leadership to continue to develop exciting and innovative programming in the arts Professional Growth
- Attend Department and Staff Meetings
- Participate in on-going in-house professional development opportunities
- Pursue training/learning opportunities with professional art organizations
- Keep accurate records.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Fine Arts/Education/Visual Arts and/or Design (Master's preferred)
- Experience teaching digital media, design, graphic art, and teaching 2D/3D
- Minimum of three years classroom instruction experience at the middle/high school or college level
- Ability to encourage and inspire student creativity
- Ability to provide an extensive portfolio of individual and examples of prior students' artwork
- Be active in artistic endeavors
- Demonstrate knowledge of art history and different art genres in order to teach a range of art styles
- Hold or show demonstrated progress in working towards a Massachusetts teaching license
