Starting Date:
Aug 26, 2026 Job Description Worcester Cultural Academy Public Charter School is seeking a creative and passionate art teacher to join our growing founding team in Worcester, MA. This is a part-time (.6) position (4 days per week, 6 hours per day) and a genuine opportunity to shape what art education looks like at a school that takes student work seriously. We are looking for culturally competent educators with experience working in diverse schools with English Language Learners and students with IEPs. We welcome candidates who reflect the cultural diversity of our community. Who We Are WCA is a growing charter public school that opened in August 2023 with a vision of becoming a K-8 community. We launched with kindergarten and have added a grade every year since — this fall we welcome our first 7th graders. As an EL (Expeditionary Learning) Education school, we believe in hands-on learning that challenges students to grow in three dimensions: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work. We partner with organizations like the EcoTarium, Worcester Art Museum, and Hanover Theater and anchor our curriculum in Learning Expeditions that make learning meaningful and real. This is a school where teachers are leaders and co-creators — and we're building something worth being part of. We want to be honest with prospective candidates: this is energizing, demanding work. Even in a part-time capacity, we ask our staff to bring full commitment to our students and mission. Our expectations are high, our community is close-knit, and we ask everyone on our team to show up as a full member of it. If that excites you, you'll fit right in. What You'll Do Design and deliver engaging, student-centered art lessons across grades K-7 that build creative skill, visual literacy, and genuine pride in high-quality work Connect art instruction to Learning Expeditions and cross-curricular themes wherever possible, reinforcing the school-wide commitment to real-world, meaningful learning Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including English Language Learners and students with IEPs, using culturally responsive teaching practices Maintain a classroom environment that is inclusive, joyful, and conducive to creative risk-taking for students of all ages and backgrounds Engage students in portfolio-based reflection on their growth as artists and contributors to the school community Communicate proactively with families and colleagues about student progress and classroom experiences Contribute to school culture beyond the art room — supporting events, exhibitions, and school-wide initiatives that celebrate student work Take on responsibilities as needed and show up as a flexible, mission-aligned member of our team What You Bring Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university Massachusetts DESE license in Visual Art (or eligibility for licensure) Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher Endorsement (or willingness to obtain) Experience teaching art across a range of grade levels, with an understanding of how creative development shifts from early childhood through middle school A genuine belief that art is not a special — it's a core part of how children learn, express, and grow Willingness to collaborate with classroom teachers and integrate art into the broader curriculum A collaborative spirit and commitment to a team-oriented, mission-driven culture Flexibility, persistence, and enthusiasm for being part of something still being built Part-time (benefits-eligible)-0.6 Salary commensurate with experience; $31,537-$48,601
