Job Description

Position Summary Atlas Public Schools is seeking a passionate and creative Elementary Art Teacher to inspire students in Pre-K through 5th grade through engaging, standards-aligned visual arts instruction. The Art Teacher fosters creativity, self-expression, critical thinking, and artistic skill development while creating a joyful and inclusive classroom environment where all students can succeed. The ideal candidate believes that every child is an artist, values hands-on learning experiences, and is committed to building strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Instruction + Curriculum Plan and deliver engaging visual arts lessons for students in Pre-K through 5th grade. Develop and implement standards-aligned curriculum that introduces students to a variety of artistic techniques, materials, cultures, and historical perspectives. Teach foundational art concepts including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, mixed media, and design. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. Integrate opportunities for creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and self-expression. Utilize student work and assessments to monitor progress and adjust instruction. Classroom Culture Establish a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment. Teach and reinforce expectations for the safe and responsible use of art materials and equipment. Build strong relationships with students that foster confidence, creativity, and a growth mindset. Support school-wide culture initiatives and behavioral expectations. Student Assessment & Communication Assess student learning through projects, portfolios, observations, and performance-based assessments. Maintain accurate records of student progress. Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth, achievements, and concerns. Participate in parent conferences and school events as needed. Art Program Leadership Organize and display student artwork throughout the school. Coordinate school-wide art showcases, exhibitions, and special projects. Manage inventory and ordering of art supplies and materials. Maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming art classroom. Collaborate with classroom teachers and related arts staff to support interdisciplinary learning opportunities. Professional Responsibilities Attend required meetings, professional development sessions, and school events. Collaborate with colleagues to support student success and school goals. Maintain professionalism and uphold all school policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by school leadership. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field. Valid Missouri teaching certificate (or ability to obtain certification). Demonstrated knowledge of elementary art instruction and child development. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities. Preferred Experience teaching elementary-aged students. Experience working in diverse school communities. Knowledge of culturally responsive teaching practices. Experience planning and coordinating student art exhibitions. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the school day. Ability to lift and carry art supplies and materials up to 25 pounds. Ability to supervise students in classroom and school settings.

From $50,000.00 per year
