Art Teacher (High School)
Summary:
To provide an approved education program and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth. To develop students' interest, abilities, talents and skills for artistic expression and creativity in the visual arts, as well as aesthetic understanding and appreciation by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; developing lesson plans; modeling the necessary skills to performing assigned tasks; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. New Jersey Standard Teaching Certification (CE,CEAS) with subject matter specialization: Art Valid New Jersey Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods Ability to maintain a positive learning environment Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles. Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught. Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school related matters. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students and faculty etc. Prior to employment, the following must be addressed: Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense in accordance with

9B-9 Instructional certificates Dedicated to achieving core curriculum standards and charter school goals, this Art Educator fosters an active learning environment through tailored lesson plans and diverse instructional materials. By balancing individual and small-group instruction with rigorous assessments of academic and personal growth, the instructor ensures each student masters both art fundamentals and critical thinking skills. Beyond the classroom, the role involves maintaining a positive learning climate, collaborating with professional staff and parents, and managing administrative duties such as record-keeping and school-level planning. Specifically, the instructor enriches the artistic program by organizing exhibits and contests, leading museum trips—both physical and virtual—and integrating art into broader curricula through cross-disciplinary collaborations and community resources. Performs other duties within the scope of his/her employment and certification as may be assigned.

Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
