Job Description
Required Knowledge and Abilities:
Ability to provide a variety of art materials, media, and resources that allow students to explore creativity through drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and other visual arts experiences. Ability to effectively instruct students in art education aligned with school and state curriculum standards. Ability to create a classroom environment that fosters creativity, imagination, self-expression, and social-emotional growth for all students. Ability to teach in a way that engages students, encourages artistic risk-taking, and develops confidence in creative expression. Ability to collaborate with administration and faculty to support student growth and meet school-wide goals. Members of the Catholic faith are preferred, with a willingness to support and integrate the mission and values of Catholic education.Duties Include:
Prepare engaging, standards-aligned art lessons that inspire creativity, skill development, and appreciation of the visual arts. Introduce students to a variety of artistic techniques, artists, styles, and cultural influences. Guide students through hands-on art projects that develop creativity, fine motor skills, and visual thinking. Assess student work using appropriate criteria and provide constructive feedback that supports artistic growth and effort. Maintain a classroom environment that is safe, organized, and conducive to creativity and exploration. Teach and reinforce proper care and use of art materials and classroom tools. Display student artwork in the classroom and throughout the school to celebrate student achievement. Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding student progress, effort, and artistic development. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events as scheduled. Encourage students through positive reinforcement, constructive feedback, and support for individual expression. Support school-wide initiatives such as art shows, special projects, and community events as needed. Complete special projects during and after school hours as assigned. Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Faculty Handbook, Parent-Student Handbook, and school guidelines. Perform all additional duties as assigned by administration.Qualifications:
Valid New Jersey Teaching Certification (or eligibility for immediate certification) with demonstrated ability to plan and deliver engaging, standards-based art instruction. Strong classroom management and organizational skills, including the ability to maintain a structured yet creative learning environment. Ability to assess student work in a fair and supportive manner and communicate progress effectively to stakeholders. Commitment to the mission of Catholic education and the ability to integrate values of faith, respect, and creativity into the art classroom.Pay:
