Valid Ohio certification/licensure – Art K-12 Bachelor's degree, Art Education Such Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL
To develop in each pupil an interest in and the ability for creative expression in visual terms, using skills and techniques of artistic expression appropriate to the Pupil's interests and abilities: to develop aesthetic understandings and appreciation; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of art.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including crafts, drawing, painting, lettering, design, art history, and three-dimensional art, following the course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities. Provides instruction to assist pupils in developing the ability to make qualitative judgments about art. Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time. Provides instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive studio environment. Instructs pupils in proper care and use of tools and equipment. Organizes storage areas and controls use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection. Evaluates each pupil's performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepares progress reports. Selects and requisitions books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids, and maintains required inventory records. Takes responsibility for professional growth and development. Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress, as needed. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school or the district level. Provides a program for the gifted and talented students in Visual Art.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and work year as established by the Board and terms of negotiated contract.
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel and provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. Excellent observation and communication skills May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students. Assisting students with behavioral/management needs Frequent evening and/or weekend work
