Job Description

Job Summary:
The Art Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging visual arts instruction to students. The teacher fosters creativity, artistic skill development, critical thinking, and cultural awareness while aligning instruction with state and district standards. The position promotes a positive classroom environment that encourages self-expression, collaboration, and appreciation of diverse artistic perspectives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the district Art curriculum. Teach a variety of art techniques, media, art history, and cultural art traditions. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students. Integrate cross-curricular connections where appropriate. Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations and provide timely, constructive feedback to students and families. Use evidence-based classroom management strategies to maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment. Use evidence-based instructional strategies to ensure effective instruction, high student engagement, and continuous improvement in student performance. Manage art materials, tools, and equipment responsibly, including inventory and budgeting as required. Teach and enforce proper use and care of art supplies and ensure adherence to safety protocols. Encourage creativity, originality, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Support students in developing portfolios, particularly at the secondary level. Prepare students for exhibitions, competitions, and community showcases; assist with installation and display of student artwork. Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom activities. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events. Collaborate with classroom teachers and staff to support interdisciplinary learning and school-wide initiatives. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in accordance with school policies. Sponsor or assist with art-related extracurricular activities or clubs, as assigned. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
Pennsylvania Department of Education certification in Art PK-12 required Submission of pre-employment medical examination Submission of the following clearances: Pennsylvania State Criminal History Record Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare Child Abuse History Clearances Federal Background Check (Fingerprints) Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
