$12,000 - $15,000 Annually The Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence acknowledges that the Catholic School teacher is vital to the educational mission of the Church. The teacher not only stimulates the acquisition of knowledge and understanding, but serves as a consistent, joyful, and living witness to the teachings of Christ. Saint Philip School is looking for a dynamic, creative and enthusiastic person to serve as the part time Art Teacher for the school. It is preferred that this candidate be a practicing Catholic in good standing. Art at Saint Philip School is a comprehensive program addressing and fostering the appropriate intellectual, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students. It promotes the development of student artistic skills and talents while simultaneously helping to develop an aesthetic understanding and appreciation of the visual arts. The position requires but is not limited to the following duties: Providing effective, developmentally appropriate programs of instruction in art and art history for grades Pre-K through 8, based on the needs and capabilities of students. Establishing and maintaining standards of student behavior for a productive and respectful learning environment. Developing students' drawing, coloring, and painting techniques and providing instruction on the use of various media, while encouraging creativity and self-expression. Collaborating with the administration and other staff members toward the setting and planning of goals as appropriate for the improvement of instruction. Preparing written unit and lesson plans as well as curriculum mapping consistent with Diocesan and school policy. Organizing and managing materials and resources for maximum and effective use. Monitoring inventory and sourcing art supplies and materials as needed Taking all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Demonstrating commitment to remaining current in professional practices and developments, informational technologies, and educational research applicable to school art programs. Maintaining records as required by law, Diocesan policy, and administrative guidelines, and collaborating with teachers on student progress. Attending and participating in Faculty Meetings, Diocesan Meetings, Professional Development Days, Faculty Committees, etc. Conducting the annual student Art Show Assisting with the classroom creations for our Saint Philip School Annual Gala Sponsoring student activities such as after school clubs, summer camps, electives, etc. Interested parties who possess a current teaching certificate or who have successfully completed all requirements to be eligible for a teaching certificate, should send all inquiries to the attention of Keith R.
