Job Description
Middle School Art
Primary Purpose:
New Diana Middle School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered Middle School Art Teacher to inspire students in grades 6-8 through engaging visual arts instruction. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while building a positive classroom culture.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver engaging art lessons aligned with state and district standards
Teach a variety of media and techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art
Encourage creativity, self-expression, and appreciation of art history and diverse cultures
Maintain an organized, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
Prepare student artwork for displays, exhibitions, and school events
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success
Manage classroom supplies, materials, and equipment
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field
Valid teaching certification/licensure in Texas
Experience teaching middle school or secondary students preferred
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Passion for arts education and student engagement
Knowledge of diverse artistic techniques and instructional strategies
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
Communication
Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
