Middle School/ High School Art Teacher 1130 West Bridge Street, Wausau, WI 54401 Full-time Full-time Job Summary We are seeking a passionate and dynamic Middle School/High School Art Teacher to inspire creativity and foster artistic growth among students. In this role, you will develop engaging curricula, deliver inspiring lessons, and cultivate a supportive classroom environment that encourages self-expression and critical thinking. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to nurturing students' artistic talents while integrating modern learning technologies and educational best practices. Duties Design and implement comprehensive art curricula aligned with educational standards for middle and high school students. Deliver engaging lessons in various art forms, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital media, utilizing innovative teaching methods. Assess student progress through projects, portfolios, and standardized testing, providing constructive feedback to promote growth. Incorporate learning technology tools to enhance lesson delivery and student engagement. Foster a positive classroom environment by managing behavior effectively and encouraging respectful collaboration among students. Mentor students in developing their artistic skills, confidence, and personal expression through individual guidance and group critiques. Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, school events, and extracurricular activities such as art clubs or competitions. Requirements Classroom experience teaching art at middle or high school levels with strong classroom management skills is preferred. Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development tailored to diverse student needs, including special education considerations. Proficiency in various art techniques and familiarity with digital art tools and learning technology platforms. Excellent communication skills for engaging students, parents, and colleagues effectively. Strong understanding of educational standards such as AP style for written communication and the Chicago Manual of Style for academic writing. Ability to mentor students in creative writing, literacy education, and public speaking related to art projects or presentations. Experience working with children in a school setting, including private or Montessori schools preferred. Knowledge of standardized testing procedures, assessment strategies, and behavior management techniques.
