Teaching Full Job Description Position Summary:
Our campus has an opening for a part-time ASL and Deaf studies teacher and mentor starting August 2026 . This position provides a student-centered, supportive classroom that promotes resourcefulness, self-awareness, inclusivity and tolerance, and independent critical thinking while addressing the individual academic and emotional needs of each student through Fusion's differentiated approach.
Pay Range :
$27.00 per hour USD Why Teach ASL and Deaf Studies at Fusion? We provide an inclusive and diverse environment to help ensure the success of our staff and students. We consistently vet and enhance our ASL courses based on the most up-to-date research and standards (e.g., ASLTA, ACTFL). We provide a deaf culture-centered curriculum. Our 1 to 1 setting encourages a mentorship environment Our courses are effective for students who are neurodivergent and have learning differences.
Key Responsibilities Include:
As a Teacher provide a one-to-one teaching experience in the areas of MS ASL- through ASL 5 at grade levels 6-12. Show evidence of adapting and differentiated instruction for all students and a classroom forum for holistic growth. Maintain complete and accurate student and teacher records. Develop and maintain genuine, positive, and consistent parent teacher communication. Support and benefit from a diverse and inclusive campus community. Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection, and continuous improvement. In addition to subject matter tutoring and teaching, this position includes significant student mentoring. Other duties as assigned. (i.e. Tutor part-time students)
Qualifications Required:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required for consideration, as well as a higher-level American Sign Language background. Advanced knowledge of Deaf / Hard of Hearing Studies, culture, and awareness Solid subject matter knowledge in most of these areas: MS ASL through ASL 4 at grade levels 6- 12. Teaching credentials are a plus but are not mandatory. Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus as well as mentoring experience. The ideal candidate is passionate, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and is an individual who is eager to work in an inclusive and diverse school setting. Candidate must be prepared to teach and tutor material at a high school level immediately.
