The school teacher shall prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God. All employees must:
Profess faith in Jesus Christ and live as His disciple. Affirm the Bible as the inspired, inerrant authority for faith and life. Agree with and uphold HCS's Statement of Faith, Shared Values, and Ethics of Employment. Demonstrate ongoing spiritual growth (prayer, Bible study, church involvement, outreach). Model Christlike character in attitude, speech, and actions (Luke 6:40). Exhibit the fruit of the Spirit in relationships. Integrate biblical truth across all instruction and teach the Bible as a core subject. Participate in and, when needed, lead prayer, devotions, chapels, and ministry activities. Be able to answer basic faith questions, provide spiritual guidance, and pray with students and families. Professional Requirements Bachelor's degree (or willingness to complete one within a set timeframe); teaching credential preferred. Minimum one year of successful experience working with children. Fingerprint clearance from state and federal authorities. Basic computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, email, internet use). Additional qualifications or experience as determined by school administration. Personal Requirements Demonstrate spiritual maturity, academic ability, and leadership to guide students (Proverbs 22:6). Be enthusiastic, encouraging, and self-motivated; relate well to students, staff, and families. Work collaboratively and build positive, respectful relationships. Maintain emotional stability, optimism, and professionalism under stress. Practice discernment, discretion, and confidentiality. Communicate clearly and effectively in spoken and written English. Show respect for authority and uphold school policies. Maintain a clean, modest, and professional appearance. Essential Job Functions - Spiritual Leadership Lead as a Christ-centered role model, encouraging students and families in faith and salvation. Create a safe, caring, Christ-centered learning environment. Collaborate with staff to support students' spiritual growth. Uphold high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity. Resolve conflict using biblical principles (Matthew 18). View students and families as ministry opportunities. Pray with and for students, families, and staff. Academic Leadership Understand and support a Christian philosophy of education, integrating a biblical worldview across all instruction. Know and follow the school's curriculum, standards, mission, and values. Plan and teach effectively using long-term and daily lesson planning aligned with scope and sequence. Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment. Understand student development and support their academic, emotional, and spiritual growth. Provide opportunities for students to reach their full potential in academics, arts, athletics, and service. Use technology, diverse teaching methods, and instructional materials to meet the needs of all learners. Implement effective classroom management that encourages responsibility and independence. Utilize enrichment opportunities (e.g., field trips, guest speakers) and purposeful homework. Assess student progress regularly and communicate clearly with parents. Participate in conferences and ongoing professional development. Administrative Leadership Lead with positive supervision and sound judgment. Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional ethics. Keep accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress. Communicate student progress and concerns clearly with parents and administration. Partner with parents through strong, positive communication. Follow emergency procedures and conduct required safety drills. Report campus safety, health, or maintenance concerns promptly. Notify administration in a timely manner if unable to fulfill duties. Additional Duties Attend and support school-wide events as assigned. Represent the school professionally in all interactions. Assist with end-of-year closing tasks (e.g., inventory). Perform other duties as assigned by administration. At-Will Employment Employment at HCS is at-will and may be terminated by either party at any time, with or without notice or cause (HCS Ministry Policies #s 106, 300 and 319). HCS reserves the right to modify personnel policies at any time.
