Spanish Teacher, Grades 4-8, Part-Time 12 hours per week Casa di Mir Montessori School San Jose, CA Job Details Part-time $35 - $40 an hour 17 hours ago Qualifications Spanish CPR Certification First aid Bachelor's degree First Aid Certification Classroom experience Classroom behavior management Teaching Full Job Description Casa di Mir is looking for a part-time Spanish Teacher to join our community teaching Upper Elementary and Middle School Students. Position would be on-site about 2-3 days per week, about 8-10 hours per week of instruction or small group tutoring + prep time. Casa has small class sizes of about 10 to 18 students with students eager to Learn, Lead & Explore. The school year is from mid-August to early-June. Position starts August 2026 Position Summary The Spanish teacher is responsible for instructing students in spoken and written Spanish, including conversational skills. The Spanish teacher prepares an engaging and creative curriculum for students in grades 4th through 8th, age 9 to 14 years in small class groups. Create an environment that is conducive to the growth and development of children in the realization of their ability to learn a second language. Essential Functions Teach the curriculum covered in the Santillana Descubre/Español Santillana text series, prepare lessons and assign follow up work to students. Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress; maintain record of student lessons and grades. Maintain language fluency through professional development Incorporate TPRS, hands on/experiential activities, music and visual aids into lessons. Educate students on the culture and customs of Spanish speaking countries. Prepare progress reports; update classroom teachers on student progress. Maintain the materials and classroom in excellent condition. Work with small groups of students at different levels as needed Ensure the classroom environment is respectful and conducive to learning; manage behavioral issues in alignment with school discipline philosophy. • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School. Qualifications Ability to relate to children and adults with maturity, respect and compassion. Bachelor's degree in Spanish or related subject. Fluent in Spanish, excellent written and verbal Spanish communication skills. Minimum 3 years teaching experience. Strong classroom management skills. Demonstrated planning, implementation and follow through skills. Excellent verbal and written skills Demonstrated organizational skills First Aid and CPR certification Physical Requirements and Work Environment Frequently bend, stoop, kneel and crouch in order to assist children; routinely sit on the floor with children. Walk and stand routinely. Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs. Work in a demanding environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
