Job Description

Renbrook School (West Hartford, CT), an independent day school for children ages three to grade eight, seeks a part-time (2 classes), experienced Spanish teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position reports to the Head of Upper School. The successful candidate will possess the following personal qualities: A love of teaching and an infectious optimism. A growth mindset with an eye toward continuous improvement. A love of children and a playful sense of humor.
Qualifications:
A Master's Degree (preferred) or Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and/or French. At least five years of teaching experience, preferably in middle school. A strong understanding of child development and the unique needs of middle school students. A proven record of positive and constructive peer-to-peer collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities:
Teach in alignment and support of the mission and values of Renbrook School. Design lessons that are active and interactive, prioritizing the mastery of the target language. Use effective and positive teacher language to promote academic and social growth, as well as rapport with every student and family. Incorporate students' cultural identities and lived experiences into the classroom as tools for effective instruction. Collaborate with other faculty, the Head of Upper School, specialists, the school counselor, and/or learning specialists to develop programming and monitor student progress. Use differentiation to meet the needs of various levels of learners in each classroom. Build and maintain a professional relationship with parents, providing them with feedback and information through weekly emails, parent/teacher conferences, written report cards, and other correspondence as needed. Proactively communicate with colleagues and parents (in both written and verbal form) in a highly professional, collaborative, and positive manner.
