The Role Grandview Preparatory School is seeking a passionate and engaging K-5 Lower School Spanish Instructor to inspire curiosity, confidence, and cultural appreciation through language learning. This position involves daily interaction with Lower School students as they develop foundational Spanish language skills through immersive, age-appropriate, and experiential learning opportunities. The ideal candidate creates a joyful and affirming classroom environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, communicating, and exploring language and culture. Typical Week Looks Like:
Roles & Responsibilities Facilitating daily Spanish language learning experiences for Lower School students with an average class size of 15 Designing engaging lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in Spanish Integrating cultural exploration and real-world connections into language instruction Collaborating with classroom teachers and specialists to create cross-curricular learning experiences Maintaining comprehensive records of student performance, progress, and goals Communicating with families regarding student growth and learning experiences Actively participating in professional growth opportunities Participating in weekly school/division/team meetings Meeting the needs of the division by helping with weekly coverage and duties as assigned Supporting students at seasonal after-school events and school community activitiesWhat We Are Looking For:
Core Competencies Ability to cultivate respectful, joyful, and affirming classroom environments Fluency in Spanish and strong communication skills in both Spanish and English Passion for language acquisition and cultural competency Experience creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences Culturally proficient and equity literate A track record of giving high-quality, responsive feedback Understanding of competency-based assessment/mastery approaches to learning Knowledge of inquiry-based learning pedagogies (PBL, VTR, QFT, DT) Proficiency in Google Suite Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, Elementary Education, World Languages, or a related field Teaching experience with elementary-aged students preferred (3+ years preferred) Native or near-native fluency in Spanish preferredContact :
