Job Purpose:
House of Academia is seeking a creative and dynamic Elective Teacher to join our team for grades 6th-12th. Our classrooms are structured in groups, with grades 6th & 7th, 8th & 9th, and so on, paired together. We are looking for an educator who can bring passion and innovation to our elective programs, with a primary focus on Spanish and Art . The ability/willingness to teach Life Skills is a plus but not required for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to): Providing instruction that meets the IEP goals of special needs students Implementing a school-provided curriculum framework to create engaging elective courses in Spanish , Art , and Life Skills for grades 6th-12th Cultivating a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages individual expression through conversation, play, and creativity Employing diverse teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles Assessing student progress regularly and providing constructive feedback Collaborating effectively with colleagues and parents to enhance educational experiences Developing and executing comprehensive lesson plans Managing classrooms of 12-15 students across various levels Utilizing Google Classroom and other technology tools proficiently
Qualifications:
Qualifications include (but are not limited to): Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field; teaching certification preferred Proven experience teaching elective courses at middle and high school levels Minimum of 2 years working with special education students Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective lesson plans Experience managing classrooms with 12-15 students Proficiency in using Google Classroom and other educational technology Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively Ability to teach Spanish and Art (Life Skills is a plus) Passion for education and inspiring students Flexibility in adapting to program changes and assignments Ability to pass a background screening and possess reliable transportation
