Note:
The role involves meeting students at field trip locations within Honolulu, such as the Honolulu Zoo or the University of Hawaii, and traveling back to the Ala Moana classroom.)
Target Students:
Mainly Elementary and Junior High / Middle School students
Driving Allowance:
$8 per day provided if you choose to use your own vehicle for commuting between the field trip location and the school. About the Program & Team Support This is a collaborative and highly supportive team environment. You will work alongside our morning instructors and midday instructors, whose schedules overlap with yours to ensure smooth transitions.
Student-to-Staff Ratio:
You will be leading a group of approximately 8 to 15 students (mainly elementary and junior high/middle school students).
Team Support:
You will never be alone. There will always be 1 to 2 dedicated teaching assistants accompanying you and the students during all field trips and transitions to ensure safety and support.
Responsibilities Field Trip Support:
Meet students at designated field trip locations within Honolulu (e.g., Honolulu Zoo, University of Hawaii) to assist, supervise, and support them during their outdoor activities. Transit to
Classroom:
Travel back to the Ala Moana classroom after the field trip. (You commute separately using your own vehicle.)
Daily Review Class:
Lead a 1-hour "Daily Review" class upon returning to the school, helping students reflect on their field trip experiences, practice related vocabulary, and wrap up their day in English.
Ensure Student Safety:
Maintain a safe, energetic, and supportive environment both at the field trip site and in the classroom.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree (Required)
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching ESL or leading camp/outdoor activities for children. Experience teaching elementary or junior high school students is highly preferred.
Skills:
Strong classroom and group management, high energy, and excellent communication skills. Ability to facilitate fun, reflective discussions with both younger children and young teens.
Flexibility:
High reliability, punctuality, and availability to work throughout the program duration (July 20 - August 21). Preferred Qualifications TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA certification. Experience in camp counseling, youth mentoring, or supervising school-aged children during excursions.
