•Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai'i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part time employees.

Federal Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The ESL instructors for the University of Hawai?i-West O?ahu's International Short-Term Programs will provide an intensive English as a Second Language (ESL) course for international students. ESL instructors shall plan, organize, and carry out responsibilities associated with the role of an instructor. Deliver face-to-face ESL instruction. Teach Business ESL and Cultural ESL topics to students. Teach students English speaking skills, vocabulary, and grammar via group presentation assignments, daily English journals, group activities (etc.) Provide students with a learning opportunity to broaden educational experience and deepen their understanding of the English Language and American/Local Culture. Integrate various activities that will aid students in connecting their English learning with practical applications in their daily lives. Adapt teaching style to suit diverse international student groups. Travel to various locations on O'ahu (UH West O'ahu and/or UH Manoa) for program sessions. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, English as a Second Language, or related fields At least two years of teaching experience in primary, secondary, college-level, or English as a second language education. Demonstrate respect for values and cultural differences. Proficient oral and written communication skills Ability to travel on island as necessitated by program schedules.
