Campus:
The Woodlawn Campus of the University of Chicago Charter School (UCW) opened in September 2006.
It has a three-part mission:
1) to assist students in developing the habits of mind, work, and heart to be successful in college and good citizens of their community; 2) to contribute to the community through student research, service, and leadership; and 3) to improve teaching and learning by serving as a site of professional development for teachers and school leaders. Woodlawn High School educates students in grades 9 - 12.
Position Summary:
Spanish teaching position responsible for preparing students, regardless of tested ability, for success in college. Excellent teacher with proven experience enabling urban students to meet high expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lesson Planning & Data-Driven Instruction Develop and deliver engaging curriculum-aligned lessons using diverse, research-based teaching strategies. Analyze and use formative assessment data to improve instruction and design assessments using the learning standards of the University of Chicago Charter School. Individualized Support Work with students individually to address learning gaps, special needs, or behavioral challenges. Professionalism Participate in staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and ongoing professional development. Communication Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and academic development. Classroom Culture Create a safe, respectful and inclusive classroom environment for all students. Enable students to contribute to the community through the creation of new knowledge. Other duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Valid Illinois Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsement At least 2 years of urban teaching experience Previous experience working with children from culturally diverse backgrounds. Excellent written and oral communication skills Proven program planning and development experience Reflective and receptive to providing and receiving professional feedback and coaching. Commitment to the success and achievement of all students. Proven commitment to curriculum and assessment planning and professional development. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, staff, students, parents, and community partners. Ability to communicate clearly with multiple stakeholders.

Salary Range:
$55,000.00 - $70,000.00 The included pay rate or range represents the University of Chicago Charter School's good faith estimate of the possible compensation offer for this role at the time of posting. The salary will be commensurate of years of experience and education.
