Job Description

The Instructor is a full-time, academic year position in the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will teach ASL courses at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. Responsibilities will include teaching the required ASL and Deaf Culture courses and service to the program and the department, including but not limited to conducting a weekly ASL tutoring session, coordinating the ASL offerings, and recruiting for the ASL program. Terms of Appointment Fall 2026 Source of Funds Local Qualifications Applicants must have a Master's degree in one of the following or related fields: ASL/Deaf Studies, Deaf Education, Sign Language Education, Interpreter education or an equivalent field by appointment date. Applicants must have a demonstrably strong connection and a history of engagement with the Deaf community Applicants must exhibit cultural competence in the language of instruction (ASL) Clearly demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and engaged service to the program Collegiality and willingness to collaborate with colleagues in a department with a diverse linguistic and cultural background Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching ASL at the college level ASLTA certification Licenses or certifications in ASL or service to the Deaf community Readiness to cooperate on shared responsibilities in a department with a commitment to collaboration Application Instructions Submit cover letter, resume, transcript, and references.
