Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Neighborhood Charter Network seeks a dedicated and culturally responsive Part-Time Spanish Teacher to provide high-quality world language instruction to middle school students, many of whom are heritage Spanish speakers. The Spanish Teacher will support students in developing proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Spanish while fostering appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures and global perspectives. This educator will create an engaging, inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence, cultural awareness, and student confidence. The ideal candidate believes language learning expands student opportunity and is committed to supporting diverse learners through equitable instructional practices.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Instruction & Student Learning Plan and deliver standards-aligned Spanish language instruction for middle school students, including to heritage/native Spanish speakers. Teach foundational Spanish language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Develop engaging lessons that integrate culture, communication, and real-world language application. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of multilingual learners and students at varying proficiency levels. Establish a classroom environment that supports positive culture, student engagement, and academic growth. Assess student learning regularly and provide timely feedback to students and families. Maintain accurate records of student progress, grades, and attendance. Curriculum & Program Development Implement curriculum aligned with Indiana Academic Standards for World Languages and Neighborhood Charter Network instructional expectations. Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance language acquisition. Support opportunities for cultural enrichment, celebrations, or language-focused school events. Collaborate with instructional teams and school leadership to support student achievement. School Community & Culture Uphold Neighborhood Charter Network expectations related to professionalism, student culture, and equitable learning environments. Build strong relationships with students and families to promote engagement and belonging. Participate in required staff meetings, professional development, and school events consistent with part-time expectations. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Education, or related field. Fluency in Spanish (written and spoken). Experience teaching or working with middle school-aged students in an educational or youth setting. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills. Commitment to culturally responsive and inclusive instructional practices. Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills. Indiana teaching license in Spanish/World Language or eligibility for licensure. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching Spanish in a middle school or urban school environment. Experience supporting multilingual learners or culturally diverse student populations. Experience designing culturally immersive activities or language enrichment experiences. Familiarity with instructional technology and digital language-learning platforms.
