Job Description

The Adult Education program offers a comprehensive, high-quality educational services to advance and accelerate the academic achievement of adult immigrant learners who face significant barriers in their search of viable career pathways and self-sufficiency. The program provides 3 levels of ESOL instruction for program beginners. The Program Coordinator for the Adult Education Program oversees and coordinates the program operations, students assessment, and intake, and advising services. The Program Coordinator/ESOL Instructor works collaboratively with the Program Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coordinate the program instructional activities. Oversees student intake activities for he program; conducts initial student interviews and provides a basic program orientation. In cooperation with the Intake Counselor and Teachers, may determine student class assignments as needed. Coordinate curriculum development activities for the program. Conduct informal classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers and the Program Director. Creates lesson plans and materials for English language and academic skill development related to student and class goals. Keeps student records up to date including attendance. Participate in staff professional development planning and implementation. Facilitate student access to other educational, skills training, and/or higher educational programs and their requirements. Advise students about other types of community programs to help resolve personal issues. Coordinate assessment of the program students. Develop and implement strategies for obtaining student feedback and incorporate data in new course offerings and staff professional development. Use data from the program to inform planning, resource development, and funding applications. Perform work in a classroom/office environment with the use of computers, fax machines, photocopiers,phones,and other office equipment. May stand or sit for prolonged periods. Local travel as needed. Attend all internal and external meetings and trainings as required. Other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor s degree in education or related field. A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in a similar environment. Must be available to work occasional evenings. Strong working knowledge of educational theory and best practice. Good leadership, verbal, and written communication skills. Good typing skills and attention to detail. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and Excel. Proficient Internet skills with Zooms, Teams, and other technology. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and compassionately in a culturally competent manner, with students of a wide variety of backgrounds, skill levels, race and ethnicity with varying level of English language skills. Ability to lead a program team and partner with other program employees and leadership to assure cohesive and barrier free service delivery within the agency. The base pay range reflects what Catholic Charities reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation in this range may be determined based on other factors, including but not limited to work experience, education and specialty training.
