(RCP) is a nonprofit organization that provides educational opportunities and services to speakers of languages other than English in the Randolph area. Grants from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the federal government fund these programs. Although housed inside Randolph High School, we are not part of the Randolph Public School system. We are currently accepting resumes for a part-time Advanced Level ESOL teacher. Classes meet twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Our classes run from September through June. The ESOL Teacher will provide instruction to adults enrolled in RCP, Inc. Adult Education Program. In addition, s/he will prepare lesson plans and activities for the students. S/he will also collaborate with other staff to ensure the program effectively responds to the needs of the students it serves.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work with program staff to develop a comprehensive curriculum that coordinates with and meets DESE standards, including math instruction
  • Prepare and submit lesson plans weekly (2-1 teaching-to-prep ratio)
  • Teach two 3-hour classes per week
  • Work with the Academic Advisor to administer required DESE program assessments three times per year (Paid training provided)
  • Work with the Academic Advisor to help students set and meet their educational and career goals
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and required training/conferences
  • Participate in yearly Professional Development
  • Work with other staff and students to plan extracurricular activities
  • Attend all extra-curricular activities, including field trips and community events
  • Complete other duties assigned by the Executive Director
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Valid teaching certificate required
  • Creative, energetic, and a team player
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Experience/knowledge of second language acquisition
  • Ability to work with and motivate adult learners
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of another language is helpful, but not necessary
