Job Description

Spanish Teacher - Lower School Position SummaryHolton-Arms School invites applications for the position of Lower School Spanish Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We seek an enthusiastic educator who can foster a love for language acquisition through engaging, student-centered instruction tailored to grades 3-6. The successful candidate will join a collaborative department, delivering a curriculum that prioritizes active learning and global competency. This role is a vital part of our mission to nurture young scholars as they explore world languages and cultures within a supportive and dynamic learning community.

Responsibilities•
Instructional Excellence:
Design and implement a spiraling Spanish curriculum that fosters academic standards and reflects the school's commitment to active learning. Adapt instructional strategies to support varying levels of proficiency, ensuring that every student feels supported and challenged.•
Collaborative Partnership:
Maintain a supportive demeanor and work closely with department colleagues and division administrators to ensure curriculum alignment. Partner actively with Lower School teachers to co-create cross-divisional curriculum initiatives, coordinate special events, and develop engaging community programming. Engage in regular, proactive communication with families to build a strong commitment to the school community.•
Professional Engagement:
Demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm for language instruction and ongoing professional growth by staying current with pedagogical trends and best practices. Participate fully in divisional life, ensuring consistency and reliability in all academic and administrative duties.•
Holistic Development:
Infuse Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) into daily lessons, demonstrating a commitment to colleagues and students by modeling the school's values and philosophy•
Ethical Practice:
Uphold the strong ethical principles of the institution by maintaining a classroom environment rooted in integrity, respect, and global awareness. Embrace opportunities for personal renewal and reflection to continuously enhance the student experience. Qualifications & Experience •
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Education, Spanish, or a related field (graduate degree preferred). •
Experience:
At least 3 years of relevant teaching experience, specifically in curriculum development for elementary or middle school levels. •
Pedagogical Expertise:
Demonstrated ability to create a student-centered, project-based classroom. Preference given to candidates with experience in Responsive Classroom methodologies. •
Core Competencies:
Proficiency in embedding DEIB and global competencies into the curriculum. Technical fluency with digital classroom platforms. •
Alignment:
A deep, demonstrated commitment to the school and its mission, with the ability to maintain consistency and reliability in a fast-paced independent school environment. •
Professionalism:
Proven ability to communicate effectively and maintain a supportive demeanor with students, parents, and faculty. Salary & Benefits The average salary range for this position is $70,000 - $100,000, the exact salary to be determined based on education and experience. We use a step scale to determine teacher salary. Additional stipends are available for coaching, certain club sponsorship and significant commitments outside of the classroom.
