Job Description

Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Applications may be reviewed periodically based on the student enrollment needs. The listing of a course in the schedule of classes as "TBA" does not constitute an assignment. The hiring decision for part-time faculty involves an academic judgment and shall be determined at Management's sole discretion. Job Description The Montgomery College, Rockville Campus is currently accepting applications for possible openings as a part-time faculty member teaching in-person ESOL to Adult Learners in an educational setting located within a Maximum-Security Correctional Facility. This particular teaching opportunity is part-time (3 evenings per week for a total of 9 hours), and is located at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Boyds, MD. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated ESOL teacher who exhibits a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to our students, and demonstrates the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. •Montgomery College accepts applications for Adjunct/Part-time Faculty on a continuous basis. Duties and Responsibilities:
The instructor will be responsible for: Planning, developing, and providing instruction in adult ESOL courses. Completing detailed, daily reports including tracking attendance and student completion of the course objectives. Abiding by all Montgomery College policies and procedures. Abiding by all policies and procedures set by the Montgomery County Department of Corrections. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in TESOL, Education or related educational field. A minimum of 2 years' experience teaching ESOL. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion. Faculty members are expected to have access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location (i.e., office, classroom, college campus)•. Montgomery College (MC) provides an MC e-mail account and access to the learning platform, password-protected faculty sections of the website, college listservs, and other faculty communications tools. •If you do not have access to a personal computer, please notify the department chair at the time of interview. Subject to available funds, the college may be able to provide temporary access to resources. Must be eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in TESOL or Education with coursework in ESOL Methodology and/or Second Language Acquisition. Experience working with diverse and at-risk populations, preferably within a correctional or similar institutional setting. Proven ability to deliver high-quality, effective ESOL instruction to adult learners within a structured behavior management framework. Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsible educational environment. A background in counselling. As a condition of employment, the following are required at the time of hire: Successful completion of 2 background checks - one with the College and one with the Department of Corrections. Successful completion of a 2-day orientation with the Department of Corrections Submission of an official transcript of relevant degree(s) For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your education equivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluation service, must be included in your application.
