Job Description

Hebrew Teacher, K-3 Levey Day School is seeking a warm, engaging, and enthusiastic Hebrew Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. This part-time, hourly position is ideal for an educator who loves working with young children and is passionate about building foundational Hebrew language skills in a joyful, nurturing environment. The Hebrew Teacher will work with students in grades K-3 to support early Hebrew literacy, vocabulary, prayer, Jewish holidays, and songs through interactive, developmentally appropriate instruction. The ideal candidate brings creativity, flexibility, and a strong commitment to helping young learners grow in both skill and confidence. All candidates are subject to a full background check in accordance with Maine Department of Health and Human Services requirements. Responsibilities Teach Hebrew language instruction to students in grades K-3. Plan and deliver age-appropriate, engaging lessons that build Hebrew vocabulary, literacy, and confidence. Introduce students to Jewish prayers, songs, holidays, and traditions in a positive and meaningful way. Create a warm, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment. Differentiate instruction to meet a range of learning needs and abilities. Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to support student learning and schoolwide goals. Monitor student progress and provide feedback as needed. Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing classroom environment. Qualifications Prior teaching experience required, preferably with early elementary students. Background in Hebrew language instruction, Jewish education, or early childhood/elementary education strongly preferred. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to connect with young children in a positive and encouraging way. Commitment to supporting a welcoming, inclusive, and joyful learning environment. Must pass a full background check in accordance with Maine DHHS requirements. Compensation Hourly wage, commensurate with experience.
