Job Description

Job Goal:
Generally teaches students in a pullout/push in program focusing on language arts instruction in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar and vocabulary acquisition. Uses appropriate strategies to help ESL learners at each level of development within the program. May work within the classroom in an inclusion model with LEP students who need assistance in understanding English. At the Classroom level, teaches specific ESL courses that have been developed in English and in related content areas and /or work with mainstream teachers in a collaborative model.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide individualized and/or small-group instruction for students in the Title III program Administer assessments and screeners and participate in decisions regarding: determining eligibility for entry into Title III program creating appropriate interventions progress-monitoring exiting students from the Title III program Maintain close communications with regular classroom teachers regarding the progress of and concerns about Title III students Participate in regularly scheduled meetings to discuss and plan interventions for individual students including, but not limited to RTI team meetings, data team meetings, PBS team meetings, etc. Provides training to teachers to assist with the development of effective classroom assessments for ESL students. Coordinates and trains school personnel in the administration and use of WIDA-APT and WIDA Access. Develops systems to track
ESL/FLEP
student progress on an individual, classroom, and school level. Disaggregates WIDA assessments and supports teachers on how to use the data effectively. Attends training classes and other district meetings as assigned. Collects and organizes data relative to the accreditation process. Help evaluate the effectiveness of Title III program and its impact on student achievement. Design and implement daily lesson plans for intervention activities, turn in a daily schedule/list of students served and comply with all other documentation and data requirements. Conduct formal and informal parent-teacher conferences. Maintain activity logs and 'time and effort' documentation that comply with regulatory requirements. Other duties as assigned
