Job Duties and responsibilities:
Plan instruction and other student support activities, including the establishment of overall goals and priorities. Provide instruction to students in a manner which incorporates essential elements of instruction; (ie. Teaching specific students' thinking); use techniques to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly, and correctly employ various principles of teaching. Develop lesson plans, as applicable to the teacher's particular assignment. Such plans should consider the needs and supports appropriate. Review selects and modifies materials and resources consistent with instructional objectives. Provide appropriate and specialized instructional materials. Establish and maintain student discipline by communicating expectations for appropriate behavior. Provide structure and consistency and encourage student responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect. Preforms other duties of a similar nature or level.
Specific Responsibilities:
Previous small group teaching experience preferred, including teaching reading and math. Previous experience working with differentiation and motivation to engage and meet the needs of students from a range of learning backgrounds. Collaborative work in a fast-paced environment interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community members. Support and communicate with other administrators and staff. Respond in emergency situations. Know, interpret, and follow school district policies.
Knowledge and Skills:
Preferred experience working with ELs (English Learners) and youth summer programs. Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines. Demonstrate ability to operate a computer, software and necessary classroom technology. Ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community. Maintain professional composure while dealing with a variety of personalities and situations. Show initiative and function as a self-starter. Effectively communicate and have interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
