Job Description
Rochester Arts & Sciences Academy (RASA) is seeking a full-time French teacher to join our dynamic and collaborative school community. This position involves teaching French language and culture to students across multiple grade levels, with an emphasis on communication, cultural understanding, and real-world language use. The ideal candidate will be fluent in French, have a strong understanding of Francophone cultures, and be passionate about helping students develop confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in French. Lessons should be engaging, interactive, and developmentally appropriate, incorporating music, movement, storytelling, and hands-on activities—especially at the elementary level—while supporting more advanced language structures and conversations in the upper grades. RASA is a private, secular International Baccalaureate (IB) school located in Rochester, Minnesota, serving children from age 3 through 8th grade. We pride ourselves on our small, attentive learning environment, where collaboration among teachers is central to student success. Elementary class sizes typically do not exceed 15 students, allowing educators to provide individualized instruction while delivering a rigorous, inquiry-based academic program aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). The French teacher works closely with classroom teachers to integrate language learning with classroom units of inquiry, helping students make meaningful connections between language, culture, and global perspectives. Experience with or interest in IB philosophy and inquiry-based learning is strongly preferred. Candidates with IB experience are encouraged to describe their background in their application.
