STA provides young women with a premier education that includes a rigorous academic curriculum and technology program, award-winning arts programs, and service and mission opportunities. STA, founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, educates young women to think critically, encourages them through Catholic values to serve others, and empowers them to make a profound impact on the world. The Academy is seeking a full-time Spanish instructor to work with the Principal for Academic Affairs and Modern & Classical Languages Department colleagues. This educator will support and integrate the values of St. Teresa's Academy and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet into the daily work and curriculum, igniting a passion for language arts, rigor, and excellence. May include honors, college dual credit courses and/or advanced placement courses pending certification. Serve as a member of the Modern & Classical Languages Department, attend departmental meetings, develop and update course curricula, purchase supplies within a budget, collaboratively plan experiential learning opportunities that include domestic or international travel. Support the school's mission and the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. |Qualifications| Bachelor's degree in Spanish required. Certification and experience [BM1] teaching dual credit preferred. Experience with a teaching methodology consistent with teaching for language acquisition and proficiency or desire to join the shared department goal of teaching for proficiency. An understanding of best practices in education. A demonstrated passion for inspiring young women through excellent instruction. Ability to integrate technology into the curriculum. Collaborative spirit in developing cross-curricular experiences for students. Flexibility, optimism, creativity, high expectations, and an emphasis on student-centered learning. Enthusiastic involvement in the school community outside the classroom. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Proven organizational skills. Understanding of the Catholic faith, single-sex schools, and the mission of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet preferred.
