Since its founding in 1892 by the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell, the mission of Mount St. Dominic Academy has been to empower young women to pursue the truth and live in charity. About the
Position:
Mount St. Dominic Academy seeks a dynamic, faith-filled French teacher to join a deeply committed and engaged faculty. We approach learning with both joy and rigor and are looking for an educator who will do the same. Our hope is to find a French teacher with fluency in another language that he or she might also be able to teach, or the ability to teach another course in the humanities. Every teacher at Mount St. Dominic Academy assumes responsibility for the leadership and management of the classes assigned; strives to achieve the goals of Catholic liberal education; develops and implements a daily instruction program according to the needs of the students and the established curriculum; maintains a joyful classroom environment where students are encouraged and challenged at all levels of development; and establishes positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues. In addition to their teaching assignments, all faculty members are expected to participate in the life of the school community through moderating student activities or coaching. Candidates should be compelling teachers with a cross-disciplinary background and the ability to deliver an engaging and challenging curriculum to young women in high school.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
o Personal commitment to the mission of Mount St. Dominic Academy o Bachelor's or advanced degree in French or relevant subject area (teaching experience preferred) o An understanding of and enthusiasm for Catholic education, values, and culture o A love for the intellectual and spiritual tradition of the Dominican Order, or the desire to learn about the Dominican Order o Must demonstrate personal self-discipline, be adaptable and flexible in routine and unexpected situations, and use good judgment in daily encounters o An enthusiasm for school life and genuine joy in serving the Mount community o A history of collegiality and collaboration with other colleagues, teachers, and administrators The salary range for this position is $60,000-$65,000 or commensurate with experience.
