World Language Teacher-(High School)
Summary:
Under the general supervision of the School Director, to develop student's knowledge, skills, and abilities in comprehending, speaking, reading, and writing a language other than English, and to develop an understanding and appreciation of the native culture of the countries where the language is the primary means of communication.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Masters preferred) New Jersey Certification as a world language teacher in the particular language taught. Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation. Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications. Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters. Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests, and learning/motivational techniques. Knowledge of the identified language, in terms of grammar, word usage, word denotations and connotations, and literature. Successful prior foreign language teaching experience is a plus. Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students. Ability to engage in self-evaluation about performance and professional growth. Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based on student learning styles. Knowledge of grade-specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students, faculty, etc. Prior to employment, the following must be addressed: Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person's offense. Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation under 42 U.S.C. 12101 and

The World Language Teacher will develop and implement a world language curriculum aligned with district goals while fostering a safe, supportive classroom environment that encourages individualized and small-group learning. Prepares engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that build students' proficiency in comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, composition, communication, and translation, while also promoting appreciation of cultures where the language is spoken. Monitors and assesses student progress, adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs, including those of students with special needs. Maintains accurate records of student achievement and attendance, communicates effectively with students and parents to support learning, and upholds school policies to ensure positive classroom behavior. Collaborates with colleagues, participates in professional development, supports student literary activities, and manages instructional resources and materials. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the School Director and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
Equipment :

Qualifications Profile Certification/License:
Must hold an
NJ Certification Teacher of:
Relevant to the Foreign Language such: as Spanish, French, Turkish, German, Korean, etc.
Work Environment:
Works in standard office and school building environments.
