Job Description:

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a Middle School French & Latin Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at an all boys' school in New York, NY.

French & Latin Teacher Responsibilities:

Teach French courses for grades 6-8 and introductory Latin courses for grades 5-6. Develop engaging lesson plans and curricula tailored to the needs and skill levels of individual students. Teach French and Latin language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through a variety of instructional methods. Create opportunities for students to practice conversational French and/or Latin. Organizing fun events where students can showcase their French and/or Latin language skills. Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior. Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.

French & Latin Teacher Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in French, Latin/Classics, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred. Fluency in French required. Proficiency with Latin required. 3-5 years of previous elementary or middle school teaching experience. No teaching license or credential is required. Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills. Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community. Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
