9:00AM-11:00AM (Class #1) Position Summary The Don Bosco Community Center, a Catholic institution, is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and organized individual to join our team as an ESL Instructor. This individual will support the short- and long-term goals of the organization by providing high-quality English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction to adult learners. The ESL Instructor will ensure classes meet the needs of the diverse population served at Don Bosco and promote the integration, language acquisition, and overall development of participants. The instructor will develop class plans, monitor progress, and foster an environment of encouragement and inclusivity. This position is essential in supporting the growth and success of individuals and advancing the Center's mission to empower underserved communities. Key Responsibilities Program Planning and Instruction Develop and deliver engaging ESL lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of adult learners with varying English proficiency levels. Utilize diverse teaching strategies and materials, incorporating interactive and real-world applications to enhance language acquisition. Provide instruction on English reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and technology. Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages participation, confidence, and cultural exchange. Use the station rotation model to provide targeted, small-group instruction, integrate technology, and encourage peer collaboration. Class Management and Student Engagement Monitor student progress through regular assessments and assignments, providing targeted feedback and support to ensure each learner stays on track. Adapt teaching methods based on learner feedback and evolving needs. Differentiate instruction for students at varying English proficiency levels Administrative Responsibilities Maintain accurate attendance records, lesson plans, and progress reports. Track and analyze both digital and in-class learning progress. Create and distribute end-of-course evaluations to gather student feedback for program improvement. Track and report on student milestones, such as promotions to higher proficiency levels or achieving specific learning goals. Ensure accurate data collection and reporting to meet grant requirements, and regularly update the Director of Operations on program outcomes and improvement opportunities Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree TESOL, or a related field required;
MA TESOL
strongly preferred.
TEFL/TESOL
certification and a minimum of 3 years' experience teaching ESL or adult immigrant populations. Experience teaching multiple ESL levels (beginner to advanced), with the ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to meet diverse learner needs. Ability to incorporate educational technology (e.g., Duolingo) and assess student progress using both digital and traditional methods. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills; able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), with strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining student data. Passion for empowering individuals through education and commitment to the mission of the Don Bosco Community Center. Must be committed to providing services in a manner that is sensitive to the diverse cultures and backgrounds of participants.
