JOB TITLE:

  • Secondary Spanish Dual Language Teacher (Core Subject)
Job Summary:
As we expand our Secondary Dual Language (DL) program, we are seeking a dedicated educator endorsed in core subject area (Language Arts preferred) to join the team. The Dual Language Teacher is responsible for developing students' academic and interpersonal skills through the implementation of District-approved curriculum in both Spanish and English. You will create a safe, optimal learning environment, document student progress, and provide essential feedback to students, and administration.
Essential Job Functions:
Instructional Planning:
Develop lesson plans and unit objectives based on Oregon Board of Education directives and District outcomes, specifically adapting materials for exceptional learners and diverse linguistic backgrounds.
Classroom Climate:
Establish a learning environment that applies principles of racial justice, sex equity, and the least restrictive environment for disabled students.
Instructional Implementation:
Utilize a variety of techniques to achieve planned objectives, focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, and managing transitions effectively.
Evaluation:
Design and use formal and informal assessments (test, portfolios, interviews) to determine student mastery and refine future instruction.
Leadership & Collaboration:
Direct and train instructional assistants, assuming accountability for delegated tasks. Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes.
Safety & Compliance:
Monitor student activities in and out of the classroom and report incidents (such as suspected abuse or substance issues) in accordance with State law and District policy.
Other Job Functions:
Assists (when appropriate) other personnel as may be required for the purpose of implementing the curriculum and/or supporting them in the completion of their work activities. Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information or to meet credential requirements.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education Required:
University degree in the field of Education and/or State of Oregon requirements for a teaching license.
Experience Required:
Prior success in job related experiences, which may include successful supervised student teaching.
Licenses, Certifications, and Bonding:
State of Oregon Teaching License appropriate to assignment, ESOL or Reading endorsement preferred, Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal Check clearance, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificates is required in some assignments.
Language Proficiency:
Bilingual Requirement
  • Full professional proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
Candidate must demonstrate at least an "Intermediate-High" level of proficiency in the partner language. Current proficiency is determined by a district-directed process.
Skills & Knowledge:
Knowledge
  • Deep understanding of Common Core State Standards, PBIS, RTI, and formative assessments. Abilities
