The School:
Aventura Community School is a public charter school in Southeast Nashville currently serving grades K-4 (and growing to K-8!) specializing in dual-language (English/Spanish) instruction with a project-based learning approach and a focus on global competence. Aventura opened in the fall of 2022 with grades K-1 and adds one grade level each year, so these are our "building" years. The mission of Aventura Community School is to inspire deep inquiry and purposeful learning that establish our diverse community of students as whole-hearted leaders dedicated to creating a more just and peaceful world.
The Team:
Aventura Community School was founded by three parent-educators: Dr. Natalie Morosi, Mrs. Katie Castellon, and Mrs. Diana Aguilar, who each have over a decade of experience in bilingual educational settings both locally and abroad. K-5 Classroom Teachers will join the leadership team in developing Aventura as a diverse, bilingual, empowering school option for families in Southeast Nashville. With a co-teacher (K-1) & team teaching (2-5) classroom approach and varied opportunities for project-based learning and community engagement, Aventura teachers will have the opportunity to engage creatively and effectively in the classroom and beyond.
Responsibilities:
Teachers at Aventura will be responsible for: Planning and providing dual-language instruction on teaching teams so that all students meet or exceed their learning and community goals Connecting and building relationships with students and families in order to support academic and personal needs Creating a positive, respectful educational environment where students develop confidence and independence as the protagonists of their learning adventures
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have: An applicable Tennessee teacher license or the ability/willingness to transfer applicable licensure from elsewhere, and/or enroll in a teacher preparation program Proficiency in English and Spanish (additional stipends are awarded for bilingualism/biliteracy) Demonstrated instructional leadership in creative productive classroom environments/cultures characterized by: high academic expectations and achievement as measured by school and state guidelines Deep care for students and families aligned with Aventura's unique anchors A strong sense of personal responsibility and initiative when approaching a new challenge or opportunity, especially experience working on a founding school team Curiosity and a commitment to continued professional and personal growth Passion for celebrating the unique cultures and characteristics that make each student, family, and staff member at Aventura unique and important Interested candidates should send their resume and cover letter to Aventura's Hiring Team at
