Early School - 1st Grade Spanish Teacher (Part-Time/ Full-Time potential)Position Overview:
Park City Day School, a small, independent PS-Grade 8 school located in Park City, UT, seeks a passionate, creative, and energetic educator to join our team as a Part-Time Spanish Teacher (part-time), or who may also serve as an Apprentice Teacher (bringing the role to full-time). This role is ideal for an educator eager to inspire a love of Spanish language and culture in young learners while gaining hands-on classroom experience in a collaborative school environment.Start Date:
August 10, 2026Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Spanish Language Instruction Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate Spanish instruction for students in Early School through First Grade; Incorporate song, speaking, listening, reading, and cultural exploration into lessons to foster language acquisition; Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to support cross-curricular integration of Spanish language and culture; Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners; Apprentice Teaching Responsibilities Assist a Lead Teacher with all aspects of a lower school classroom environment;Work with small groups and individual students to reinforce learning across subject areas; Support the development of lesson plans including instructional objectives, activities, and assessments; Provide classroom support including supervision, transitions, and student engagement;Demonstrate flexibility in supporting various classroom settings, outdoor activities, and school events; Community Engagement and Professional Responsibilities Participate in the school community including collaboration meetings, weekly faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and special events; Support implementation of classroom management practices aligned with the PCDS "Strive for Five" values to foster a respectful and inclusive environment; Communicate effectively with colleagues and families as appropriate; Adhere to Park City Day School policies and procedures as a professional educator.Requirements:
Proficiency in Spanish (native or near-native fluency preferred); Experience working with groups of children in an organized setting; Demonstrated understanding of child development, particularly in early childhood and elementary education; Demonstrated willingness to be creative and bring engaging, culturally rich activities into the classroom; Evidence of strong organizational skills, oral communication, and interpersonal skills;Personal and Professional Qualities:
The successful candidate should possess the following personal qualities: : PCDS teachers evidence a successful academic background and a mindset for lifelong learning and continuous professional improvement. : PCDS teachers instruct in a broad range of curricular and co-curricular areas; however, the true subject (not object) of a PCDS education is children. A teacher's ability to connect, both individually and collectively, with children is critical to their success. : Although the self-confidence and autonomy to plan and lead classes is essential, PCDS teachers collaborate with colleagues and share ideas to ensure that the whole is more than the sum of its parts.
