The Math/Science Department will hire faculty with a required load of 15 credit hours per semester. Instructors' primary responsibility is fostering student learning in assigned courses. The teaching load will consist of primarily anatomy and physiology courses and may also include other courses for which the instructor is qualified to teach and there is need. Instructional practice is expected to adhere to Kirkwood's Quality Instruction Indicators. Teaching schedule will be assigned by the dean and may involve teaching at various Kirkwood locations in a variety of delivery formats including online, face to face, and hybrid. Instructors may be assigned to teach evenings and weekends. In addition to teaching responsibilities, instructors are expected to dedicate a portion of their effort as specified in the faculty handbook to a combination of service to the college and professional development activities that enhance their field-specific expertise and/or teaching practices. Instructors are responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined by the college's Quality Faculty Plan.UNIVERSAL CORE COMPETENCIES

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, organize, prepare, and teach assigned courses across varied modalities, schedules, and college locations in accordance with established syllabi. Effectively organize, prepare, and teach assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi to students with varying backgrounds and abilities and adjust teaching techniques accordingly. Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on a regular basis. Utilize the Kirkwood Learning Management System for course materials, syllabi, gradebook management, and related instructional functions. Maintain regularly-scheduled office hours according to college requirements and be available to students on an as-needed basis for student questions and discussions regarding their performance. Establish and maintain good working relationships with students, colleagues, staff, administrators, and the public. Participate in curriculum development, revision, and assessment activities at course, program, department, and college levels. Master's degree in biological sciences or related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of 12 graduate credit hours that are related to anatomy and physiology content. Teaching experience, preferably in biology including anatomy and physiologyPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS
Extensive experience, knowledge, and/or training in anatomy/physiology Qualification to teach multiple classes within the biology discipline Successful teaching experience- preferably in anatomy and physiology and at a community college Experience with online and/or hybrid instruction
