Job Description

The Department of Cellular Biology and Anatomy at LSU Health Shreveport invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We seek outstanding scientists to establish an innovative, extramurally funded research program that advances understanding of cardiac pathophysiology and cancer research. Applicants must have a PhD, relevant Postdoctoral experience, and extramural NIH funding, preferably at the R01 level, but at a minimum, a K99/R00 award. For the cancer biology program, we are particularly interested in Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) and Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In the department, there is a growing research interest in the newly developed field of Cardio-oncology. Our Cardiac Biology Research Group has internationally recognized strengths in fibroblast biology and fibrosis, HFrEF modeling (MI, I/R, TAC), cardio-oncology, cardio-immunology, and hiPSC-derived disease modeling. All cardiac researchers are welcome to apply, but we are particularly interested in candidates who will complement and expand our expertise in: Cardiac electrophysiology and calcium handling Sarcomere biology and force generation HFpEF modeling Translational research bridging basic and clinical science Faculty will benefit from strong institutional support and integration with the Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Sciences, WWW.LSU_Shreveport-CCDS , which offers exceptional opportunities for collaboration in vascular biology, including atherosclerosis, metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, neurovascular injury/stroke, peripheral artery disease, and microvascular dysfunction.
Responsibilities include:
Leading an innovative and sustainable research program supported by NIH R01 or equivalent funding. NIH K99 awardees are welcome to apply. Publishing impactful findings in high-quality journals and presenting at national/international conferences Teaching and mentoring graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, medical students, and residents Contributing to departmental and institutional service and fostering a collaborative scientific environment
