Full Time Position Information Open-Rank Professor of Instruction or Professor of Practice Series The University of Texas at San Antonio College of Sciences, Department of Biology, Health, and the Environment invites applications for multiple fixed-term, open-rank faculty positions in the Professor of Instruction or Professor of Practice series. Department of Biology, Health, and the Environment The Department of Biology, Health, and the Environment embraces an interdisciplinary mission at the intersection of human, animal, plant, and environmental health, as well as our role in preparing students with interests in health careers. Its eight research faculty, along with over fifty non-tenured faculty members, are recognized for both educational innovation and research excellence. We have 2,900 undergraduates working toward one of five bachelor's degrees. In Biology, BS in Health Sciences, BS in Environmental Science, BA in Environmental Studies, BS in Multidisciplinary Science (Grades 7-12 Certification). We have over 60 master's students working towards either an MS in Biology or an MS in Environmental Science. Based on the Department's degree programs and research interests, we are building around the One Health paradigm.Job Type:
Full Time Salary:
Commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications. Position Summary The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in biology or environmental science to support our BS in Biology, BS in Health Sciences, BS in Environmental Science, or BS in Environmental Studies. This position would have a baseline teaching requirement of 4 undergraduate or graduate lecture courses in the Biology, Health, and the Environment Department each semester. Faculty members teaching coordinated courses are expected to collaborate actively with colleagues and adhere to the parameters outlined in the teaching contract. This includes maintaining consistency in course content, assessments, and instructional practices to support the success of students and to promote a cohesive and effective learning environment for both students and faculty involved in the coordinated course. Qualifications PhD in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Instruction) or MS in Biology, Environmental Science, or related field (Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Practice). An MD with relevant clinical experience may also be considered Experience teaching biology and/or environmental science lectures and labs. This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.
