Job Description

Job Description This is a part-time position teaching lecture and laboratory sections for multiple classes during the 2026-2027 academic year at Virginia Wesleyan University (soon to be Batten University).
The courses include:
BIO 100 Introductory Biology for nonmajors BIO 201 Microbiology for Health Sciences BIO 221 Human Anatomy and Physiology
I BIO 222
Human Anatomy and Physiology II The adjunct instructor will teach in person during the day or early evening. Preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. and demonstrated experience in teaching college-level biology, although candidates with a M.S. or 18 graduate semester hours in Biology will be considered. Duties and Responsibilities :
Prepare syllabi that meet the VWU syllabus guidelines and provide these to students on the first day of class. Syllabi should also be provided to department chairs. Be on time and prepared for class sessions and grade, provide feedback, and return assignments within a reasonable time period. Communicate with students via office hours and email. Submit mid-term reports, final grades, and C- reports per guidelines provided by the University Registrar. Comply with FERPA regulations. Coordinate with Campus support services as needed to support students.
Qualifications :
Ph.D. in Biology or M.S. with 18 graduate hours in Biology Teaching experience is preferred Willingness to learn and use Blackboard, the University Learning Management System.
