JOB GOAL
To prepare students for future academic and career success by delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction in business and computer science, guided by the Indiana Department of Education frameworks and VCS curriculum maps. The teacher will develop students' digital literacy, computational thinking, financial literacy, and problem-solving skills through project-based learning and real-world applications. Instruction will be informed by ongoing assessment data to ensure measurable student growth, while fostering collaboration, creativity, and responsible technology use. The teacher will also contribute to a positive school culture and collaborate with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and continuous improvement.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaches the assigned curriculum to middle school pupils, utilizing the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities. Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the basic instructional philosophy. Adapts curricular material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge pupils. Provides learning experiences which develop the basic communication skills, utilizing electronic equipment and other materials as appropriate. Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil, including, but not limited to, interventions based on individual student and/or group need. Administers or monitors group tests (i.e. ILEARN, etc). Instructs pupils in safe operation of equipment used in instruction. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment. Selects and requisitions books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies; maintains required inventory records. Communicates with parents, school counselors and other relevant school staff on pupil progress. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities. Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities. Serves as a positive role model for students.
