Job Description

Requirements for this Position
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CPR/1st Aid Training
  • At least a level 2 on Oklahoma Registry Professional Development Ladder
  • Take the ELCCT course.
  • Attain at least 20 hours of training each year from a DHS approved source.
  • Is familiar with and adhere to all rules and regulations in DHS Child Care Licensing Requirements as well as Messiah's Employee Manual. Desired Attributes for this Position
RELATIONAL

    MEETING NEEDS OF CHILDREN
    o Maintain published Oklahoma DHS Teacher/Child Ratios to ensure the safety of each child at all times. o Help serve and clean-up snacks and lunch. o Help supervise arrival and dismissal of children, admitting families to the building, recording arrival time on roll call sheet and each child's daily sheet. o Assist in toileting and diapering of children. o Help setting up mats for rest time and supervising children at nap. o Maintain cleanliness of all classrooms and hallways. o Complete toy sanitization at least weekly. Rotate toys at least monthly. o Assist in completing Daily Sheets and sending them home with children each day. o Administer First Aid and/or respond appropriately in emergency situations. o Has a strong understanding of stages of childhood development. o Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts. o Prepare children to enter the next level of care or for entry into school. o Expose children to new interests by introducing them to art, music, sports, and other potential hobbies. o Ensure children have opportunities to grow physically, academically, socially, and spiritually. o Set up developmentally appropriate learning centers.
      MEETING NEEDS OF STAFF
      o Has exceptional communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills. o Create classroom schedule and routines in conjunction with whole center and school schedules. o Work as a team member with other staff under the direction of the director and school administrator. o Work with whole staff to create and post weekly lessons developing and encouraging age-appropriate learning and socialization to ensure children learn basic skills and concepts. o Plan with, supervise, and effectively utilize assistant teacher and floating teacher in a positive manner that promotes cooperation in a team ministry approach.
        PERSONAL
        o Maintain a professional personal appearance, which is neat and suitable for working with young children. o Is flexible and adaptable to change. o Is prompt, punctual and dependable. Takes initiative in demanding situations. o Have good interpersonal skills. Is loving, welcoming, and approachable. o Is able to stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, stretch and lift and/or carry a child weighing up to 35 pounds. o Attend staff meetings and participate and assist in all scheduled functions of Messiah Early Childhood Center (i.e. Open House, National Lutheran Schools Week, Parent meetings and programs, etc.). Summary In the role of Lead Three Year Old Teacher, you will be instrumental in fostering a nurturing and educational environment for young learners. Reporting to the Daycare Director, you will utilize your core skills in classroom management, early childhood education, and communication to effectively engage with students and their families. Your expertise in curriculum development and behavior management will enhance the learning experience, while your understanding of childhood development will ensure each child's individual needs are met.
