Job Summary:
Required:
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Business Administration, Management, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Hospitality Management, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development, or a closely related field
  • Five or more years of experience in the Beauty, Spa, Cosmetology, Hospitality, or other closely related industry
  • Communicate clearly, effectively, & professionally in both oral & written formats
  • Strong computer & information literacy skills
  • Commitment to the effective use of technology in online & hyflex learning environments
  • Current knowledge of teaching & learning theories & best practices
  • Experience teaching, or willingness to learn to teach, the effective & ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI)
Preferred:
  • Prior teaching experience; postsecondary, professional, or industry-based instructional experience
  • Teaching experience in a community college and/or university setting
  • Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system
  • Experience teaching distance education courses
Summary:
This is a 9-month, full-time Business Management-Salon Emphasis Program Lead Faculty position (174 days/year). We seek an experience instructor to teach upper division coursework for the Business Management - Salon Emphasis Program. Faculty are expected to provide high-quality, outcomes-based instruction that aligns with the philosophy & objectives of the college. In addition to teaching, faculty participate in college activities, committees, & other duties to support the mission & initiatives of the college.
Duties Include:
  • Teach 45 credits per academic year in online and/or hyflex modalities
  • Develop upper-division Business Management courses & Business Management-Salon Emphasis courses
  • Develop, review, & update Course Outcome Guides & syllabi in collaboration
  • Evaluate, assess, & track student academic achievement
  • Adjust teaching strategies based on assessment results, professional development, & feedback
  • Document instructional modifications informed by assessment data
  • Employ a variety of teaching methods to support high-quality learning experiences
  • Maintain five scheduled student conference hours per week & five additional unscheduled campus hours
  • Establish instructional standards in accordance with academic policies & communicate these standards to students
  • Advise students enrolled in the Business Management BAS program
  • Play a substantial role in reviewing & maintaining the integrity of the curriculum
  • Collaborate with the Business & Cosmetology Advisory Committees on curriculum development, student learning assessment, & related initiatives
  • Maintain certificates and/or licenses required for employment eligibility
  • Uphold professional standards of conduct
  • Acquire new skills to support program & discipline enhancement
  • Identify & participate in professional development activities
  • Participate in college activities, committees, & other duties
  • Engage in self, departmental, & program evaluation processes
  • Participate in departmental or discipline-specific meetings
  • Serve on committees
