Job Description

SUMMARY The primary teaching area for this position is the sophomore-level, writing-intensive business communication course. We are seeking candidates who can deliver high-quality teaching to effectively engage students. Depending on experience, candidate may be asked to teach courses in a variety of business areas including business communication, oral communication, and general business. The standard teaching load for faculty in the Rusche College of Business is 24 teaching load credits for the combined fall and spring semesters. The Rusche College of Business is AACSB-accredited, and the successful candidate will be required to meet faculty sufficiency requirements and engage in research, scholarly, and professional activities to maintain faculty sufficiency as defined by the College of Business Faculty Sufficiency Policy and its accrediting body (AACSB). Preferred Qualifications Experience in teaching at the university level. Experience in a professional business setting. Ability to teach in-person and online. Ability and desire to teach several writing-intensive courses each term.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time, nine-month, faculty position responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the chair.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in the field in which the individual will be teaching is required. Practical experience sufficient to teach at the university level, through teaching or profession, is required. Experience teaching at the university level is preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs an equivalent of thirty teaching load credits (TLC) for the combined fall and spring semesters; reduction of teaching load through reassignment of duties is possible under certain circumstances. May conduct supplemental instructional activities such as independent studies, internships, and advising.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides services to the university and the profession and engages in research/scholarly/creative activities. May supervise the work of student and/or graduate assistants. May serve on departmental, college, and university committees. Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation. Knowledge and practical experience in the field in which the individual will be teaching. Ability to effectively teach undergraduate and/or graduate students. Ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment. Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Ability to work effectively and patiently with students.
