POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position is responsible for teaching a Career and Technical Education program that meets the Washington State Frameworks and Bellevue School District approved guidelines within the Bellevue Digital Discovery School. Bellevue Digital Discovery is an accredited school that follows the Alternate Learning (ALE) model. The CTE Business and Mentor Teacher at Bellevue Digital Discovery position combines Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching responsibilities with a mentor teacher role focused on supporting student engagement, progress monitoring, and successful completion of individual written student learning plans in an online learning environment.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs and delivers engaging, standards-aligned CTE instruction for Career Choices, Digital Communication, and Personal Finance appropriate for an online learning environment in both a self-paced and live online learning models.
  • Incorporates career-connected learning, financial literacy, and digital communication competencies aligned with Washington State CTE frameworks.
  • Differentiates instruction to support diverse learners in a virtual setting.
  • Assesses student learning and provide timely feedback to support mastery of standards.
  • Serves as a Mentor Teacher supporting a cohort of students in Bellevue Digital Discovery's online learning program by building strong relationships with students and families through regular communication, conferencing, and progress monitoring.
  • Complies with all ALE requirements including maintaining weekly two-way communication with all assigned students and providing monthly progress updates.
  • Actively participates in the CTE Program Advisory Committee and partners with business, industry, and community organizations to enhance career-connected learning opportunities
  • Participates in program planning, professional learning communities, and continuous improvement of Bellevue Digital Discovery programs.
  • Supports implementation of district initiatives related to career readiness, digital learning, and student success.
  • Manages and advises appropriate recognized leadership groups and incorporates student leadership activities into the total curriculum.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned by building or district administration.

  • Reports directly to and is supervised by the Building Administrator
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
(positions in this class typically require) Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of State of Washington Career and Technical Education Certificate with one of the following combinations:
    V600092, V600097, V520100, & V521206
      V600092, V600097, & V078000
      • Washington State teaching certificate with multiple endorsements.
      • Experience teaching in an online or blended learning environment.
      • Experience mentoring or advising secondary students.
      • Knowledge of High School and Beyond Plan implementation and career pathway development.
      • Experience integrating technology to support virtual instruction and student engagement.
      SKILLS:

      • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
      PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
      Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. This position may be exposed to prolonged exposure to visual display terminals as required.
      Medium Work:
      Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
      CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
      $ 73,990 to $ 138,754 annual salary (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement salary schedule). Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule. Placement on the schedule is determined by training and experience. Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon .45 FTE. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
