Description Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) seeks to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach course offerings throughout the 2025-2026 academic year . WWCC offers opportunities for adjunct faculty to teach courses at all of our campuses: Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, as well as online/remotely. Part-time/temporary adjunct faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. WWCC offers a wide range of opportunities in extended learning, dual-credit alternative high school, workplace learning, outreach learning, and personal enrichment programs. WWCC accepts applications for adjunct faculty positions on a continuous basis, though it does not necessarily imply that there are immediate openings. Applicants who meet the required minimum qualifications and submit a complete application with all required components will become part of the standing pool which the College will draw on as scheduling needs dictate. Qualified candidates are encouraged to submit materials at any time. Candidates who are qualified to teach multiple disciplines are encouraged to apply to each discipline's adjunct pool postings to ensure their application is considered. Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications to fill the part-time role of Business Management Adjunct Faculty in the Corrections Education program with a Concentration in Entrepreneurship located at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, Washington. These positions will work for the Corrections Education program at the Washington State Penitentiary (WSP) located in Walla Walla, Washington. Schedules and course loads will vary from quarter-to-quarter and will depend on student need. All classes are face-to-face; online courses are not offered. Flexible schedules are available (including day, evening, and weekend classes). The courses listed below apply toward the Business programs offered at WSP. General Responsibilities:
This position is filled to fulfill a contract awarded to WWCC by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges to operate a correctional education program at WSP in accordance with an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections (DOC). WWCC and its employees working in a correctional education program are expected to follow all DOC Policies, IT and other Security requirements, the DOC Operational Memorandums, and comply with the Superintendent's directions.Essential Responsibilities:
Faculty members are professionals with the primary responsibility of providing a quality education for all WWCC students. The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning. This position reports to the Student Services and Academic Coordinator at WSP and will be responsible for teaching classes to incarcerated individuals housed at WSP. Successful candidates will teach assigned classes, prepare teaching materials, track and assign grades, maintain records, take attendance daily, and consult with students as required by the instructional division.Competencies Ability to:
Check emails and inbox on days classes are taught. Interact with those in custody and/or the public according to expected guidelines; treat students, incarcerated staff, staff, and co-workers with dignity and respect. Recognize the value of cultural, ethnic, gender, and other individual differences in people. Build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation, and mutual respect. Develop accurate standards to measure learning and administer testing (or other evaluations) to determine effectiveness and ensure a high level of comprehension has been achieved. Hold students accountable and ensure classrooms are conducted in a manner suitable to all students. Track students and inform supervisor if students miss more than three classes via email. Effectively combine an array of methods to enhance understanding, including demonstrations, lectures, group discussions and activities, individual activities, etc. Be flexible when deciding which teaching methods best serve the student's needs, interests, and ability to learn. Adjust instructional methods and delivery to meet institutional and student needs.Required Qualifications :
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college. For remote work, applicants must reside in either WA, OR, ID, CA, IL, PA, or TX. Master's degree in a related discipline required to instruct college-level courses. Experience working for a company utilizing the course skills.
