Job Description

The Assistant Basketball Coach supports the Head Basketball Coach in the administration and operation of the basketball program in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Alabama Community College Conference (ACCC), the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and the College. This role contributes to the development of student-athletes both academically and athletically while promoting a positive and competitive program.
Salary:
$15,000 yearly Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications and must submit a complete application packet through the on-line application system to be considered. A complete application consists of the following: An on-line application Current résumé Copy of college transcripts (Transcript of college work verifying degree requirement; must include degree awarded and date confirmed. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted before the deadline, but official transcripts must be received if employed.) Application materials must provide documentation that the applicant meets all minimum qualifications. Recruit qualified student-athletes who will represent the College in a positive and competitive manner. Assist in the development and preparation of the athletic program budget. Support the responsible administration of the athletic budget under the direction of the Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director. Requisition, purchase, inventory, and maintain equipment and supplies within established budget guidelines. Assist in the development of game and practice schedules in accordance with conference policies. Recommend scholarship awards for student athletes and student managers to the Athletic Director, as appropriate. Coordinate travel, lodging, and meals in collaboration with the Head Basketball Coach and Athletic Director. Assist with the maintenance of the athletic facilities. Promote and emphasize academic success as the top priority for all student athletes. Attend required meetings as assigned by the College. Conduct oneself at all times in a professional manner that reflects positively on the team and the College. Assist in the overall operation and daily activities of the basketball program. Serve on College committees and participate in institutional initiatives as assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma is required . Collegiate coaching experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of basketball fundamentals, coaching strategies, and player development. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with students, colleagues, and the public. Commitment to all students, including those of varied cultures and ethnic backgrounds. Basic computer proficiency. Ability to assist in planning, organizing, and conducting practices and coaching games. Ability to lead, motivate, and supervise student athletes. Knowledge of safety practices, rules, and regulations related to athletics. Familiarity with collegiate eligibility standards, first aid, and sports medicine principles.
