Work Schedule:
40 hours a week (Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required) Position Summary The Head Women's Volleyball Coach is responsible for the organization, administration, and leadership of the Shorter College intercollegiate volleyball program. This position ensures the program operates at the highest possible level of quality on both regional and national stages, while remaining fully aligned with the College's mission, values, culture, and competitive standards. Essential Functions The Head Women's Volleyball Coach is responsible for the comprehensive management and operation of the Shorter College Volleyball program, including but not limited to the following areas:
  • Organizes and administers all aspects of the volleyball program, including recruiting, scheduling, practice planning, travel arrangements, and home game management
  • Identifies, evaluates, and recruits prospective student-athletes who meet institutional, academic, and athletic standards
  • Develops and implements effective strategies, systems, and tactics for training and competition
  • Oversees program budgeting, equipment needs, and approved fundraising activities
  • Provides instruction in athletic performance, skill development, leadership, and personal growth
  • Monitors and supports the academic progress, eligibility, and retention of student athletes in collaboration with College resources
  • Promotes discipline, accountability, positive morale, and appropriate residential living behavior among student-athletes
  • Ensures the health, safety, and overall welfare of student-athletes during practices, competitions, and travel
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with all NJCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations
  • Serves as the official representative and spokesperson for the Women's Volleyball program to internal and external constituencies
  • Provides leadership and positive role modeling to student-athletes, faculty, staff, administrators, officials, and supporters
  • Promotes sportsmanship, ethical conduct, and character development consistent with the values of Shorter College
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the President or Director of Athletics Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Previous collegiate coaching experience required
  • Demonstrated knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, training principles, and game strategy
  • Knowledge of NJCAA rules and regulations or the ability to obtain such knowledge
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
