About theRole:
The Girls Varsity Volleyball Assistant and JV Volleyball Head Coach plays a pivotal role in developing and nurturing student-athletes within the school's volleyball program. This position is responsible for supporting the varsity coaching staff while independently leading the junior varsity team to foster skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The coach will design and implement training sessions, game strategies, and conditioning programs that align with the school's athletic philosophy and competitive goals. Additionally, the role involves mentoring young athletes to build confidence, discipline, and a strong work ethic both on and off the court. Ultimately, this position aims to cultivate a positive and inclusive volleyball culture that promotes athletic excellence and personal growth among all team members.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience playing or coaching volleyball at the high school level. Strong knowledge of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies. Ability to work collaboratively with coaching staff, student-athletes, and school personnel. Clear background check and eligibility to work in the United States.Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a head coach or assistant coach in a high school volleyball program. Certification in coaching or sports safety (e.g., NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, CPR/First Aid). Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field. Demonstrated success in developing athletes' skills and fostering team cohesion. Strong organizational and communication skills.Responsibilities:
Assist the varsity volleyball head coach in planning and conducting practices, game preparation, and in-game coaching. Lead the junior varsity volleyball team by organizing practices, developing game strategies, and managing team logistics. Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance individual and team skills. Promote a positive team environment that emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. Coordinate with athletic department staff, parents, and school administration to ensure compliance with school policies and athletic regulations. Manage equipment, uniforms, and other resources necessary for team operations. Support recruitment and retention efforts by engaging with prospective student-athletes and their families. Attend all scheduled games, practices, and team meetings, ensuring consistent communication with players and staff.Skills:
The required and preferred skills are essential for effectively coaching and managing volleyball teams at both the varsity and junior varsity levels. Strong technical knowledge of volleyball allows the coach to design effective practice drills and game strategies that improve player performance. Communication skills are used daily to provide clear instructions, motivate athletes, and collaborate with other coaches and school staff. Organizational skills help in managing schedules, equipment, and compliance with school and athletic regulations.
